Facebook App & Messenger For iOS Updated: New Features And Better Speed

I recently reviewed the new Facebook app for Android released a few days back and interestingly shortly after it, the company released the updated Facebook app for iPhone as well. Not only that, recently the company has also launched the new Facebook Messenger app for iOS and in this post I will talk about the two.
Facebook App iOS
Let us start with the Facebook iOS app which now comes in the latest 5.0 avatar. The company claims that the new version has been built completely from scratch which has helped the company make significant improvements. This time the company has stressed a lot on the speed of the app and therefore what we get is a much better and faster Facebook that loads up the notifications and news feed the moment you open it.
The news feed not only loads immediately but works faster as well. Scrolling between stories is faster and a banner is added to notify you about new stories. Photos open way faster and one swipe in the downward direction closes an open photo.
Rest of the features are similar to its Android counterpart but since the app is based on Apple’s native iOS SDK (leaves HTML5) now, the overall experience is very impressive.

A number of changes have been brought to the new app and they actually enhance the experience. One can start a chat with single person or a group conversation.
Added features include support for insertion of smileys, hearts and emoji. Special symbools can be accessed by a single tap. Several bug fixes and a new message sound has also been added.
One can also view the timeline of the friend you are talking to by tapping on its name from the conversation window. All in all it is good, though not as remarkably different from its previous versions as is the new Facebook app. But since it is improved now, you will like it.
