iOS 6 Tethered Jailbreak For iPhone 4 & iPod Touch 4G; Untethered On 3GS

A while back I made a detailed post on how to jailbreak your device on iOS 6 GM and today we have the official iOS 6 tethered jailbreak for devices running on A4 chip, which includes the iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 3GS.
A few days ago a similar jailbreak had surfaced for the aforementioned devices but unfortunately that was a little tedious considering the fact that Cydia wasn’t installed by default, as it should, and the user was supposed to install it manually after jailbreaking the device.
But this new method is an improvement over the last method and it installs Cydia on the device after the jailbreak is complete. So essentially it is similar to the methods we had seen in the past for iOS versions 4, 5 and so on.
While the process remains a tethered one for iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G, users owning an iPhone 3GS with old bootrom will get an untethered jailbreak once you are finished following this guide.
To boot your device in such a situation, launch redsnow, hit Extras > Just Boot > Next. The tool will help you get your device into DFU mode and will reboot it in the normal state.
If you are running a tethered boot, do ensure you do not reboot your device accidently as you will need a computer and redsnow tool to bring your device back to life.

Requirements
- iOS 6 firmware for your respective device – iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 4 (CDMA), iPod Touch 4G and iPhone 3GS
- Redsnow 0.9.15b1 – Windows or Mac
- Open redsnow tool (use Run as Administrator if you are on Windows).
- Connect your device to your PC via USB
- If your device is factory unlocked, please proceed to step 4, otherwise you will have to follow the steps given below to create a custom IPSW
- Download iOS 6 IPSW for your device from under Requirements
- Open Redsnow, click on Extras and hit Custom IPSW. Now browse for the downloaded IPSW and select it.
- Once the IPSW has been created, click on Pwned DFU button and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
- Now launch iTunes, hold Shift (on PC) or Options (on Mac), and hit the Restore button. Select the Custom IPSW you created and let the it be installed on your device.
- Now hit jailbreak, and press Next and follow the instructions to put your device into DFU mode.
- Once the tool completes its job, your device will be jailbroken and it will reboot.
