Enable AirDrop On iPhone 4, 4S With AirDrop Enabler iOS 7.0+ Cydia Tweak

When Apple released iOS 6 the most disappointing part was it being not supported on iPhone 3GS. Likewise when Apple was about to release iOS 7 speculations were there this very version would not arrive on iPhone 4 but fortunately it did. But at the same time Apple also confirmed that one of the latest features, AirDrop, would not be available on iPhone 4 and 4S.

While users were confident that Apple would certainly never bring AirDrop to 4 and 4S devices, many of us including me were just as confident that developers would come up with a workaround once the iOS 7 jailbreak is released.

Good news is AirDrop can now be enabled on the unsupported devices i.e. the iPhone 4 and 4S, thanks to a new tweak called AirDrop Enabler iOS 7.0+. The tweak is hosted on xsellize repo and is available for free. If you have the repository already added in Cydia you can look for the tweak right away by searching AirDrop Enabler iOS 7.0+ (yes that is the complete name of the tweak).

For users who do not have xsellize on their repo list, launch Cydia and go to the Manage tab. Now tap on Sources and on the repo tap on ‘Edit’ (present at the top right corner). Now tap on ‘Add’ which appears on the left corner and type in the following URL:
http://cydia.xsellize.com/

After entering the URL, tap on Add Source and let the repo be added to Cydia and fetch all the packages. Once it has been done, just tap on the repo and find the above package from the list or you may also search for the same from the ‘Search’ tab.

Simply install the package and respring your device. No options or icons will be added for the tweak, so to ensure AirDrop is enabled on your older-generation device, drag the Control Center up and you should see the AirDrop section just above the QuickLaunch icons. Tap on the AirDrop button and you are good to go.

Update: The tweak is confirmed to be working on iOS 7.1 Beta versions too.
