Hide Statusbar In iOS 7 Apps, Notification Center, Lock & Home Screen With NoStatusBar

The status bar on your iPhone, iPad or any other smartphone for that matter, is an important element of the operating system. It provides necessary information such as the battery percentage, the network signal, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and more.

Having said that, sometimes we wonder if the status bar could be hid in order to squeeze out that little extra estate available at the top of the screen. Talking in context of Apple devices such as the iPhone, it is certainly not possible as it is a static element that is supposed to be present on your screen all the time.

Officially there is no way you can hide the status bar on iOS 7, however if your device is jailbroken, I have a brilliant solution. NoStatusBar is a lightweight tweak available for free on Cydia that allows hiding the iOS 7 status bar in applications, Notification Center, and on the lock and home screen.

How To Use NoStatusBar On iOS 7

The very first thing you need to do is launch Cydia, and search NoStatusBar. Once you locate the package, install it and respring your device. Unlock your device and go open the Settings app.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see NoStatusBar. Tap on it to access the settings’ page and you will see four toggles. They will be Hide On Lockscreen, Hide On Springboard, Hide On Notification Center, and Hide In Applications. You can enable these toggles, then hit the “Respring” button at the bottom and you are done.

NOTE: Hide In Applications only hides the status bar in applications downloaded from the App Store and not the pre-installed ones such as Messages, Phone, Safari, Music and the likes.

NoStatusBar is a nice tweak and it does work well. In my understanding, it does not greatly improve the screen space but definitely lets you get rid of the annoying status bar when you really don’t need it.
