Add Different Water Effects To iPhone Springboard: AquaBoard Cydia Tweak

Whether you own an iPhone, Android phone or Windows Phone, after a couple of weeks of use you will definitely get bored and feel that using the interface becomes monotonous. Android and Windows Phone users may not agree with it as the main screen of the respective devices is quite rich and there are plenty of options to give it some oomph. But sadly for iPhone users the homescreen remains pretty much the same and there is something specific that you can add.

Today I have a small Cydia tweak for people who have jailbroken iPhones, which will add water effects to the springboard / homescreen. The tweak is very space friendly – hardly weighs anything, but adds the typical effect of water to your homescreen. It is available for $2.99 via the BigBoss repository but if you have any pirate repos added to your device, getting it for free will be a child’s play.

Open Cydia and search AquaBoard (without space) and once you find the tweak, install it. After the installation, you will need to respring your device.

Now you can view your springboard which will appear a little different and as soon as you move your finger along the screen, you will notice the lovely water effect over the whole screen.

This is the default effect type, and the app has 7 more effects which you can set. To do so head to stock iPhone Settings app and look for AquaBoard. Here you have the tweak enable disable toggle and specific toggles for home screen, lock screen and battery charging screen respectively. So you can enable if for the screens you want.

Under Theme settings you have the type of Aqua theme and the frames per second. So from here you can set the effect of your choice and even change the fps which has a maximum value of 30.

What I really like about the tweak is that it works flawlessly and does affect other applications. Evidently it uses less ram and gives you a whole new feel.
