XDA-Developer sparkym3 has been working on the device for quite some time now and has found a universal exploit for Fire HD 7” running Android 4.0 ICS. So if you own this device, just follow the guide after the image and enjoy the benefits of rooting.
Once Amazon comes across this exploit found by sparkym3, it will roll out an update immediately. But as of now, atleast we have an method to root the device.
Before you start off with the rooting process, download the following files:
NOTE: Before proceeding enable USB Debugging Mode to avoid any mishaps.
Of the multiple files that you see after extracting the root tool folder, look for RootQemu.bat and run it. A command prompt will open up with four options in the window.
All you have to do now is press 1 and the rooting process will begin. Once the rooting process is complete, your device may reboot so keep your calm and wait.

How To Install The ADB Drivers?
Download the file linked above and extract the contents to desired location. Look for the exe file in the extracted folder, and Run it to install the ADB drivers.
