SubtleLock Cydia Tweak Improves iPhone Lockscreen Appearance - Definitely Worth Trying

It’s been a few months since iPhone 5 arrived in the market and I am simply liking the screen size. However, majority of the tech critics and experts from around the world do not like the 4.0 inch screen and expected something to compete with the likes of HTC One, Samsung Galaxy SIII, etc.

Now that the screen size has changed, the new iPhone’s lock screen appears less cluttered compared to the older generations. In iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 3GS, the lock screen hardly looks good as most of the space is occupied by the clock and unlock slider, and their respective translucent backgrounds.

In iPhone 5 the lock screen clock and unlock slider have moved slightly away giving more room for flaunt the wallpaper. But the same is not the case with the older generations. So how can you get a cooler lock screen on your 4, 4S, and 3GS, and still retain the conventional look to an extent?

Well, the answer is SubtleLock. SubtleLock is a Cydia tweak that refreshes your iPhone’s, or any other Apple device’s, lock screen without compromising on the slider, camera grabber, and the clock. In a nutshell, it pushes the slider and clock closer to the lower and upper edges respectively, and also trims down their respective translucent backgrounds.

The end result is a beautiful lock screen which looks much better and cooler than the conventional one. The tweak is available for $1.00 and you can download it from Cydia.

Once you have installed the tweak and respringed your device, open the stock Settings app and look for SubtleLock. Inside the tweak’s settings page you need to enable it first, and then choose whether you want to enable/disable the clock and the slider. You can also hide the date from here.

After doing so you may check out the new lock screen on your device and I am sure you will be amazed to see how improved it looks.

The best part about this app is that it does not require a respring to apply the changes, and you can enable/disable the tweak whenever you want.
