Apple has given a complete overhaul to the iOS with the latest version 7 but while the new iPhone devices, namely the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, are able to flaunt it properly, the older generations are literally struggling to perform the same way they were doing on iOS 6. The major issue being faced by iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and iPhone 4, users is the reduced battery life and that was quite expected as the iOS 7 comes with a range of new features that were unseen on the previous iterations.
So how do we deal with the battery crisis on our Apple devices? Users who are extremely concerned about the battery life can follow the tips given below and I am sure this will help you to a good extent, if not eradicate the problem completely, which obviously is not possible.
This is the single biggest change that apple has brought to the iOS. As the name suggests the feature refreshes the content / fetches new content even when the app is not in use, which means it all happens in the background and thus uses battery. As of now not many apps can do that but as time goes on and developers update their apps such as Facebook, Twitter etc., they will use more battery. But we can disable this feature completely, or at least disable it for select apps.
To do that you need to go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, and then, using the toggle, disable the feature for select apps.
Apple has added a set of live wallpapers or dynamic wallpapers which were earlier absent. But as on Android, live wallpapers eat a lot of battery. So what I suggest is that you use static wallpapers and not use dynamic wallpapers. You can change the wallpaper from under Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness.
You can turn this feature off from under Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.
One of the most awaited features this year, was automatic app updates, the same that we have seen on Android, and finally this has arrived in iOS 7. iOS asks you to enable it when you manually update an app for the first time. But again this could affect the battery when you have a lot of apps installed. You can disable this feature from under Settings > iTunes & App Store.
iOS 7 gets a new all feature called Control Center which lets you toggle radios on / off with much ease, that too from any screen. Just swipe upwards from the bottom edge of the screen and from the overlay you can toggle off radios such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use.
These tips may not sound enough to bring a major improvement in your device’s battery life, but they are definitely capable of delivering a better battery life when working together. So go ahead and try the above tips.

Disable Background App Refresh

Disable 3D / Parallax Effect
The iOS 7 comes with a neat parallax effect that not only applies to the wallpaper, but to app icons and dialog / alert boxes as well. Under this feature, a 3D effect kicks in which changes the position of all the mentioned sections, based on the orientation of the device, to give the effect that the icons and alert boxes are sitting on top of the wallpaper and do not look dull. You can turn this feature off from under Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion.
Disable Automatic Downloads / Automatic App Update
Turn Off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth And Other Radios If Not In Use
Disable Location Services
There are plenty of apps that use both Wi-Fi and GPS for getting your location and thus consume enough battery. For such apps you can disable the location services from under Settings > Privacy > Location Service. These tips may not sound enough to bring a major improvement in your device’s battery life, but they are definitely capable of delivering a better battery life when working together.
