DockShift Cydia Tweak - Change iOS 7 Dock Colour On iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Apple device owners who have been using iOS 7 for a while now, must be familiar with the ever changing dock. Reason being the iOS 7 dock, unlike what we have seen in the previous iOS versions, changes its colour according to the wallpaper you put on your home screen.

It looks funky and offers a unique look to your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch’s home screen. But I am sure many of you, who have used tweaks like DockColorize and the likes on iOS 6 or iOS 5, would not be happy to see a colour that you don’t like. And would be waiting to hear about a tweak based on the lines of DockColorize and compatible with iOS 7.

Now that the Evasi0n 7 - jailbreak for iOS 7 devices is out, new tweaks are turning up on Cydia. The latest one is DockShift, a tweak that allows you to change the colour of iOS 7’s dock from a list of available colour schemes.

To install the tweak head to Cydia and either look under the Changes section or open the BigBoss repo where it should be listed on the top as it has been added just recently. Now install the tweak and respring your device.

After doing so, open the stock Settings app and scroll downward until you see DockShift. Tap on it and it will navigate you to the tweak’s settings page. All you have to do now is Enable the tweak using the toggle and then choose the desired Style from a list of available styles.

On the Style list you have Transparent, Milk Glass (in different schemes), Dark Milk Glass (again in different schemes) and more. So you can select any of the available styles and exit the settings app to see your new iOS 7 dock.

Just in case, if the tweak does not change the colour of the dock, try respringing your device and it would come to life. Best of all the tweak is available for FREE, so you should not be worried about paying even a penny for it. The only downside of this tweak when compared to DockColorize is that it does not let you add custom colours whereas with the latter you were able to put any image as the dock background. But considering how new these tweaks are, we should not complain much and I am sure such a feature would be added in a future update or a new tweak would be developed soon.
