Enhance iOS 7 Folders On iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch: BetrFoldr Cydia Tweak

iOS 7 has a number of improvements over previous iOS versions but at the same time lacks in some areas. For instance the folders that are created on iOS 7 are essentially similar to what we have seen on iOS 6 and do not boast any new features. Moreover what I personally do not like about iOS 7 folders is the way they open and I still find the iOS 6 folders’ animation, where the screen would get sliced on tapping, much better.

Now that Apple has stopped signing iOS 6 we have no choice left but to live with iOS 7. Having said that a number of options are there, or I should say are in the making, that could enhance your experience on iOS 7 for sure.

BetrFoldr is a fairly new tweak that improves the stock folders on iOS 7 to a good extent. As of now not many such tweaks are available for iOS 7 but for the time being the features that BetrFoldr offers are good to live with. The tweak offers three features:

• Nested Folders
• Clear Folder Background
• Pinch to close

Nested folders mean you can have folders in folders, meaning you will be able to hide plenty of applications in one single folder by creating subfolders. The tweak also makes the Folders’ background clearer giving a neater view of the icons along with the wallpaper you have on your home screen. Last but not the least, the pinch to close features allows you to close the folders using pinch gestures.

How To Get BetrFoldr On iOS 7

The tweak is available for free on BigBoss repo. So launch Cydia, and search BetrFoldr (mind the spelling). Once you locate the package and install it, respring your device. Now open the stock Settings app and look for BetrFoldr tab present at the bottom – this would take you to the tweak’s settings page.

On the settings page you would see toggles for each of the aforementioned features, so you can enable / disable them at your will. Once you enable the required features simply exit the Settings app and tap open any of the folders to test the tweak. The best way to test would be to create a subfolder by dragging one of the icons and dropping it on another icon inside the main folder.

NOTE: Just in case the tweak does not work after enabling the toggles, try respringing your device and see if it works or not.

All in all the tweak is functional and does give you some extra features but I would certainly like to see more advanced features and not these basic ones.
