iOS 6 GM Beta Jailbreak For iPhone 4 & Other A4 Devices Out; Redsn0w 0.9.13dev4 Available For Download

iPhone 5 has been launched and its sales are breaking the records of the previous iPhones. At the launch event of the iPhone 5, Apple also briefed the media about the upcoming iOS 6 and its features. There are plenty of new things to try your hands on, but people need to wait till the 19th of this month before the firmware update is released officially.

But the availability date is specifically for general public whereas for the developers, Apple has already released the beta version of iOS 6, the iOS 6 GM. To download the GM version you need to have a developers account but people have managed to flash the beta firmware without a developers account too. So if you already have the iOS 6 GM version running on your iPhone 4 or any other older device powered by an A4 processor, then this guide will definitely help you jailbreak it.

The latest developer version of redsn0w is out and it has been developed specifically to jailbreak the iOS 6 GM beta. So let us get started with the guide.

First of all you need to have the latest firmware version flashed on your device (A4 device in specific). Secondly you need to have the dev version of redsn0w downloaded to your computer (links for Mac and PC given below). Thirdly you will have to create a custom IPSW for your device.

• Now connect your device to the computer and run redsn02 0.9.13dev4 as administrator(Windows). You should see two options on the redsn0w window; Jailbreak and Extras.

• Hit Extras and and then click on Select IPSW. Browse the iOS 6 GM IPSW file and select it.
• Once you select the IPSW file, the Jailbreak button will automatically appear and assuming your device is already connected, hit Jailbreak.

• The above window will appear and it says that your device needs to be switched off before proceeding. So hold down the power button and use the slide to power off option to switch off your device.
• Now redsn0w will guide you to put your A4 device into DFU mode. The instructions will be presented on the screen, but still to help my readers I am adding the instructions below:
• As soon as you hit Next in the image below, press the Power button for 3 seconds.
• Once the first 3 seconds are over, and while pressing the Power button press and hold the Home button. Both the buttons need to be kept pressed for the next 10 seconds.
• As immediately as the above 10 seconds are over, release the Power button but keep holding the home button and your device shall enter the DFU mode.

• After your device enters DFU mode, the jailbreak process will proceed further and will patch the firmware.
• In the end Install Cydia option will come and you just need to press next and you are done.

NOTE: Your A4 device will be have a tethered jailbreak, so every time you reboot your device you will have to connect your device to the computer > open redsn0w > select Extras > and click Just Boot.
